Google Authenticator App Reviews

An app that is supposed to live long term with you should not lack this. It is not like a crappy game that I dont care if the progress is saved. I enabled iCloud backup of my phone before switching to a new phone for one reason and one reason only, that is to preserve my codes in the Authenticator, and it fails me. This does not make Google money but it is truly important to the user. If you really care, fix this.

Tried to use the app on my new phone, and instructed me to begin set up. No idea how to do this, and no instructions, looks like a lot of other people had this problem

Seriously, do not rely on this app for 2FA.

It supports more than one account and I havent had any problems with it. I know its for security purposes but when you get a new phone youd need to redo all of your security tokens. Thats a pain. I replaced it with Authy which has cloud backup and as well as displaying numbers in Notification Center.

Authenticator is now very buggy and barely usable. When adding a new QR code, it creates multiple entries. The generated codes do not work with Gmail.

Ubisoft is trash

Worked fine for a long time, now it hardly works at all. And Google silently dumps you back to inputting your name so its kind of a nightmare if you need to your computer. Searched around for answers, found lots, none of them worked.

The app never works. Ever. Leaves you stranded. If mailchimp cared about two-factor authentication at all it would start with this crappy app. If I could give it zero stars I would.

After numerous attempts to use this app, I gave up and went with SAASPASS. At least that one works.

I like this app. It does what it needs to do and is easy to use. It helps keep all my two factor accounts secured. Feature request - make a companion app for the Apple Watch. This would make it even easier for me to get my codes. Thanks!

In this day and age, you cant have an so that just display codes NOT be Apple watch friendly. It is clearly an intentional move by Google to limit the productivity of their rival platform, but that hurts the end user.

Lost many critical codes after changing my iPhone, even though I restored from backup. Struggling to regain access now. Thanks for nothing, you useless autistic idiot-savants.

But not always, recently ive been having problems with the app double adding codes. but I dont see an update for the app that I can tell when it started.

Authy is sooooo much easier to use. This app used to be easier to transfer to new devices and setup in 2012. Sometime since then and now (2/1/17), its become incredibly complicated to set up and use. After app updates on my iPhone I had to re-setup some of my google accounts that required this Authenticator. My apps obviously required me to use Authenticator. But then my Authenticator also required me to use my google accounts! A bit frustrating but workable, right? Just log into my google account sign in and security settings on my laptop to setup my Authenticator first, right? WRONG. Its stupidly difficult to navigate through the labyrinthine security settings pages in google to find the passcodes or the QR image that I need to setup Authenticator on my phone. I couldnt find it. I even googled on how to find it and couldnt find the answers. This is multiple layers of Google fail. So I just gave up. Switched off 2-factor sign in and deleted this useless app, much to my disappointment and security downsides. Google really needs to simplify all the crazy complexity and cognitive bloat they are creating in their ecosystem of stuff. Their "material" UI design looks nice superficially but is in fact very poor UX - Its just all labyrinthine. Nothing is "obvious" and intuitive.

Upgraded to a new phone and this app wont work. Cant access my programs that require 2FA. Usually google is better.

I used google authenticator for an online wallet and when I transferred to a new phone I lost all my codes related to the online wallet. Now I cant access the funds in the wallet and have lost 500$. Very dissatisfied with google and they need to have a way to recover this data.

After the phone reset and restore from backup all my records are gone. Just cant find words how disappointed i am.
